![]() ![]() Orcs don't have many, possibly the biggest one is the difficulty in developing the Black Orcs, as they rarely score and cause only the odd casualty. It is tempting to frontload an Orc team at the start, and watch the rookie opposition team futilely try to find a two-dice block to make a hole through the wall of greenskins. Orcs have many cheap, highly armoured Linemen, under-priced Blitzers who are the core of the team, up to four Black Orc Blockers to provide considerable muscle to the roster, a Troll and even some Goblins to use as catchers or to make up the numbers. They even have the option of going for a Throw Team Mate one-turn touchdown in an emergency, using a Troll to hurl a Goblin teammate towards the endzone, and the Goblin runs the rest of the way. They usually bash and run, employing 'the Cage', but with developed Throwers and skilled Blitzers and Goblins, can pass with reasonable success too. Orcs are the original basher team of Blood Bowl, yet can play with an element of finesse, too. These aren't the only lineups I've seen tried out, and I'd like to see what other people have come to prefer using.Orcs are da best! The doo bashin an runnin an bashin. The former saves rerolls with sure-hands, and the latter saves rerolls by making positioning and blocking easier. strip-ball or not replacing a lineman with a troll vs heavy bash. The third reroll isn't worth not fielding sure-hands vs. This is probably my go-to roster for leagues like COL or LewLeague which lean so heavily towards Bash. Personally I value you extra strength 5 player more than the third reroll. ![]() When you look at the 3 RR starting lineup, the effective trade-off is giving up one reroll and a lineman, and gaining a troll. The massive amount of strength this team can bring to bear won't be fully leveraged for a few games, when your able to afford a second lineman. This roster is much better in a league or format that leans more heavily towards bash, and for coaches who have time to develop their team. I have actually come to prefer this starting lineup for Orcs, and that is coming from someone who thinks that the Troll is a dumpster fire quality player. Lineup 3: 2 Rerolls and a Troll and a Goblin This would be my preferred lineup for Legion League or TBBL which have so many elf teams in them. He another strength 3 piece, and block, sure-hands helps to protect from 1db cage dives. It's probably fair to call him the worst dedicated ball-handling piece in the entire game outside of Thro-Ras. That's not to say the Orc thrower is good. Sure-hands is also helpful if you expect to play in an environment with wood elves, skaven, or any other team that you might see cage diving. You lose the floating reroll, but gain sure-hands and pass for ball-handling duties. I have come to prefer this lineup to the 3 reroll setup. This was the other lineup people quickly glommed onto when the change to Orcs was announced. It simply doesn't perform as well, in my estimation the more a league leans towards finesse or bash style games. Overall I think that it's an unnecessary compromise that is best for immediate team expansion with new players. You are down strength compared to both 2 reroll starting lineups, especially compared to the troll lineup. Blitzers or the goblin are your ball carriers, which is fine for how bad throwers are. You give up the thrower, who has a built in rerolls for the most important ball-handling action in the game and instead get a stunty goblin. I really like having 3 rerolls, but I think you are giving up quite a bit to get that third reroll. The two I propose are certainly not the only lineups you can do, but they are the two I prefer. I'll throw out two of my own, and also make a case against another popular starting lineup. So instead of grousing about that, I thought it would be better to discuss what starting rosters player think are best under the new rule changes. The general consensus appears to be the change was unnecessary and hurt a team that was already weak in terms of winning games, but won't be going away any time soon.
